Setting up an Effective Web Site

 

  1. Select your ISP and web designer (template or personal) very carefully
    1. Make sure your page is professional looking
  1. Choose a domain name – it should be something about your market- easy to remember
  1. Plan the goals of your website – focus on the end result
  1. Home (index) page should resemble the cover a great book
    1. Ideal site loads in 10-15 seconds or less
  1. Create separate pages for each area
    1. Do NOT use pages that say “Under Construction”
  1. Use a good viewer program to see how your site will look in most browsers
    1. The size of the screen and how the page looks in each browser can be attractive or NOT
  1. Be stingy with graphics unless they load quickly
    1. Black and white photos load faster than color as a rule
  1. Use the same logo on all screens, this will make secondary pages load faster and keep it clean and consistent
  1. White space is good – usually makes it easier to read
  1. Provide interaction when possible
    1. Audio and video clips are wonderful – should be less than 45 seconds
    2. Contests with a REAL winner
    3. FREE information – give aways, coupons
    4. Autoresponders
  1. Every page should have:
    1. A link to your home page
    2. An email link to you
    3. ALL your contact information - – 800#, address, fax #,  local #
  1. Use as many testimonials as you can people love them ( video/audio is fabulous)
