Setting up an Effective Web Site
- Select your ISP and web designer (template or personal) very carefully
- Make sure your page is professional looking
- Choose a domain name – it should be something about your market- easy to remember
- Plan the goals of your website – focus on the end result
- Home (index) page should resemble the cover a great book
- Ideal site loads in 10-15 seconds or less
- Create separate pages for each area
- Do NOT use pages that say “Under Construction”
- Use a good viewer program to see how your site will look in most browsers
- The size of the screen and how the page looks in each browser can be attractive or NOT
- Be stingy with graphics unless they load quickly
- Black and white photos load faster than color as a rule
- Use the same logo on all screens, this will make secondary pages load faster and keep it clean and consistent
- White space is good – usually makes it easier to read
- Provide interaction when possible
- Audio and video clips are wonderful – should be less than 45 seconds
- Contests with a REAL winner
- FREE information – give aways, coupons
- Autoresponders
- Every page should have:
- A link to your home page
- An email link to you
- ALL your contact information - – 800#, address, fax #, local #
- Use as many testimonials as you can people love them ( video/audio is fabulous)
